A Day in Nursery
Children are welcomed by our trained and friendly staff. Registration is taken and lunch arrangements confirmed. All this is done whilst the children are encouraged to choose a book in Reception class, name write in Nursery or choose from Early Bird activities.
Throughout the day children will take part in directed, child initiated or adult led activities. We work hard to ensure that there is an appropriate balance between the times your child is involved in varied activities.
Snack time - There is a snack time during the morning when the children eat fruit that is provided free of charge by the Government. Your child may bring their own fruit if they do not like the fruit or vegetables available. No other food is permitted as we are a Healthy Eating school.
Milk is also provided for under 5’s.
Children are encouraged to help themselves to water when they need it. Children in Reception will need to bring a water bottle to school that can be left in school so that they can have a drink when they need one. Only water is allowed to protect tooth care.
Lunch time— is at 11.50. Under the governments scheme all children in the Reception class are entitled to a free hot meal. Children opt to have a healthy school meal or bring a packed lunch. The system is flexible and you can choose each day with the menus available on the school’s website. Packed lunches should be nutritionally well-balanced, with no sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks. We also have a number of children with severe nut allergies and therefore ask you to ensure that packed lunches contain NO NUT PRODUCTS.
Hot school meals are available for Nursery children at a cost of £2.60 or free if means tested.
Home Time
Children get themselves ready to go home, please practice putting coat and shoes on at home as often as you can. Please email the school office if there are changes to your collection arrangements.
FINE MOTOR FRIDAY
Every Friday morning, before registration, you are invited to join your child in supporting them to complete a short fine motor task. Fine motor skills is the co-ordination of small muscles in movement with the eyes, hands and fingers. Developing good fine motor control is important for your child as it is a fundamental skill used in everyday life. We will be in touch to let you know of dates when this begins.
